IMPORTANT COMMUNICATION: Progressive Shutdown of 3G Service Expected by December 31, 2025

WINDTRE, as part of the progressive plan of technological innovation of its mobile network infrastructure aimed at replacing obsolete platforms with the latest generation ones, informs all its Customers that it is about to start a process of phasing out 3G network service.
In a first phase, the decommissioning of 3G service will be carried out on the 2100 MHz band only in order to devote that band to the delivery of the more modern 4G service and, where available, 5G service, both of which provide significantly higher performance in terms of connection speed and reliability.
This decommissioning of 3G service on the 2100MHz band will be implemented over the course of two months and will end in May/June 2024.It is important to note that in this first phase, 3G service will continue to be available nationwide on the 900MHz band, on par with 2G service, thus ensuring continuity of service for all users with devices that support 3G and 2G service on the 900MHz band.
In case of owning devices that do not support 4G or higher technologies, but support 3G service on 900MHz band, data and voice services will be carried out normally on 3G network with 900 MHz carrier. In the case of owning devices that do not support 4G or higher technologies, and support 3G service only on the 2100 MHz band, without support for the 900 MHz band, data and voice services will be redirected to the 2G network with a possible noticeable reduction in data transfer rates only.
In the case of owning devices that do not support 4G or higher technologies, and in addition do not support either 3G or 2G on the 900 MHz band, there will be an inability to carry out not only data traffic but also voice and SMS traffic.
When faced with such eventualities, WINDTRE suggests considering replacing your current device with a new one that supports at least 4G service. WINDTRE outlets are offering a wide range of deals on the latest devices that are compatible with 4G and 5G network technologies. Subsequently, a second phase will be planned, the timing of which will be announced in due course, in which 3G service will also be phased out on 900 MHz band, which is expected to be completed by December 31, 2025.
Following the decommissioning of 3G service even on the 900MHz band, in order to take advantage of WINDTRE mobile network services, it will be necessary to use devices that support 4G or 5G service.
